Training Session & Mock Drill on FIRE SAFETY & AWARENESS conducted at Poornaprajna Institute of Management

The Human Resource forum 'ETICA' of Poornaprajna Institute of Management organized a Training session and mock drill on 'Fire Safety & Awareness' on Saturday the  30th of November 2019. The aim of the program was to brief the students on the various types of fire, the reasons for fire accidents and measures to prevent the same.



The session was graced by Mr. M Gopal - Assistant Fire Officer and Mr. Ganesh  Acharya along with Dr. Bharath V., the Director of the Institute, Dr. Sureshramana Mayya, the Dean of the Institute and Dr. Krishna Kothai, Coordinator of the PCRD.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Bharath V. said that it is very important for all the common men in society to be well aware of reasons for fire accidents and also the techniques to tackle them by using various types of equipment that is available during the event of a fire accident.

Mr. Ganesh Acharya who took over the session addressed the students on various reasons and causes that lead to fire accidents. He briefed the students on the components of fire that is heat, fuel and oxygen and how they can be very dangerous if left unattended.  


 He also explained about various types of fire namely Class A, Class B, Class C, Class D, and Class K. He further added that each type needs to be dealt with different extinguishers like Water and Foam, Carbon Dioxide, Dry Chemical, Wet Chemical, Clean Agent, Dry Powder, Water mist and cartridge operated dry chemical.




Later the students were given hands-on training as to how to fight a fire during accidents in the college ground. 








This included both traditional and modern methods to tackle fire both in domestic and commercial situations. 















The students also got an opportunity to witness a variety of sprinklers that are used during different situations to extinguish the fire.  







Miss Sharon of II  MBA was the host for the event, while Miss Sheetal  Salian of II MBA proposed the vote of thanks.

ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ಡಾ. ಭರತ್‌ ಎಲ್ಲರನ್ನುಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸಿ, ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಪ್ರಾಮುಖ್ಯತೆಯನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು. ಉಡುಪಿ ಅಗ್ನಿಶಾಮಕ ದಳದ ಶ್ರೀ ಗಣೇಶ ಆಚಾರ್ಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಇತರರಿಗೆ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಅನಾಹುತಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಅದರಿಂದ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದಾದ ಕ್ರಮಗಳ ಬಗೆಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಒದಗಿಸಿದರು.

ತದನಂತರ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಅನಾಹುತಗಳಿಂದ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದಾದ ವಿಧಾನಗಳ ಬಗೆಗೆ ಉಡುಪಿ ಅಗ್ನಿಶಾಮಕ ಘಟಕದಿಂದ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಗೆ ಪ್ರತ್ಯಕ್ಷಿತಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ಜರಗಿತು. ವೇದಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉಡುಪಿಯ ಅಗ್ನಿಶಾಮಕ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಾದ ಎಮ್. ಗೋಪಾಲ, ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಡೀನ್‌ ಡಾ. ಸುರೇಶರಮಣ ಮಯ್ಯ, ಪೂರ್ಣಪ್ರಜ್ಞ ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಘಟಕದ ಡಾ. ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಕೊತಾಯಿ ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು. 

ದ್ವಿತೀಯ ಎಂಬಿಎಯ ಕುಮಾರಿ ಶೆರೋನ್‌ ಅಮ್ಮಣ್ಣ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಮಾರಿ ಶೀತಲ್‌ ವಂದನಾರ್ಪಣೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಸಮಗ್ರ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಮಾನವ ಸಂಪನ್ಮೂಲ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಯ ಸಂಘಟಕರಾದ ಪ್ರೊ. ಅಶ್ವನಿ ಕೊರಿಯ ಸಂಘಟಿಸಿದ್ದರು.

  On 20-03-2021 Poornaprajna Institute of Management, HR Forum ETICA, and IQAC jointly organized a half-day visit to 'Mamatheya Thottilu'. 13 students from HR specialization along with the faculty in-charge Prof. Joe Ashwin Correa visited the orphanage near Santhekatte,Udupi.  Ashritha M S hosted the program.  The program began with the self-introduction of the students, which was followed by the inmates also introducing themselves by telling their names, their class, their favorite food, favorite color, the name of their best friends, and the ambitions of their life.  Project coordinator Ms. Marina Elizabeth introduced the staff members Rekha, Prema, Jayanthi and others to the gathering. Inmates showcased their talent by singing “Needu Shiva Needadiru Shiva” spiritual song. Ashritha M S and Nagashree K taught action songs to the inmates, along with English alphabets, Kannada vocabulary, Numbers from one to twenty and days of a week. Inmates danced for the song “Bumbum Bhole”

Anti-Ragging Cell conducts a skit on the menace of Ragging

 Anti Ragging cell of Poornaprajna Institute of Management organised a Skit programme by the students on the theme of "Prevention of Ragging".  Five teams presented their idea about the problems involved and the ways to overcome ragging through their skit.  The programme was appreciated by the Director of PIM, Dr. Bharath V.  The Anti-ragging committee members along with all the faculty were present on the occasion.

VISIT TO OZANAM-OLD AGE HOME AT KALLIANPUR, UDUPI.

The HR forum of Poornaprajna Institute of Management visited the old age nursing home- OZANAM at Kallianpur, Udupi on 28 th September 2018. During the visit the 12 students from HR specialisation along with the faculty in-charge Mr.Joe Ashwin Correa interacted with the elderly, seeking information regarding their good old days and about their present-day to day routine. Some of the elderly also shared their experiences with the students individually which was a good experience. The students also conducted spot games and activities to bring in some smiles on the old and tired faces. The inmates participated wholeheartedly and showed an excellent sportive spirit during these 2 hours. At the end, the Superior of the Old age home thanked the students for the noble initiative and blessed the students for the great sacrifice.
